This week, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis launched the state’s own version of the Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency and directed it to work with education officials to cut “unnecessary spending, programs, courses, staff, and any other inefficiencies.”   12 The number of Penn State University’s commonwealth campuses under review as officials decide which to close amid demographic challenges. Penn State President Neeli Bendapudi said the seven largest commonwealth campuses would be excluded from the review.   7 The additional months colleges now have to submit data to the U.S. Department of Education required by the gainful employment and financial value transparency regulations.
